It’s been a colorful week. The children used a lot of blue, yellow, and red paint and discovered what results when they are combined. It was fun to see the green St. Patrick’s Day clothes on the children on Wednesday. Unfortunately, I missed participating in the fun. I planned on wearing my green apron on St. Patrick’s Day. At dinner on Wednesday, I told my husband and daughter that some children wore green a day early and I will '“tomorrow.” My family said it is St. Patrick’s Day. I said, “No, St. Patrick’s Day is the 17th.” We have a large desktop style calendar on the wall over our kitchen table. They said “Look at the calendar!” What a surprise for me to see that I was off a day. I still wore my green apron on Thursday.

The children all painted rainbows at the easel. There was a sample for them to see and I spoke to each child about the order of the colors. These rainbows are brightening our classroom.

The children enjoyed our no-mess painting project on Thursday with blue and yellow paint. The paper and paint were in a zip lock bag and they used their hands to press and push the paint to cover the paper. The resulting green created beautiful paintings. And the best part was clean hands! The story Little Blue and Little Yellow talks about what happens when the Blue and Yellow family combine.

On Friday, the children painted with combs to combine red, yellow, and blue. Lots of new colors were created.

All the teachers at MWS know that I love my props. Mrs. Ford gifted me a pair of glasses that were her son’s. She thought they would be great for me because they are orange. The children all agreed. Our special Circle Time friend this week was a white mouse. We sang a lot of squeaks all week during our Hello song.
