Corduroy and Rainbows

What do Corduroy and rainbows have in common? They both bring on smiles. This week the children enjoyed meeting Corduroy. On Monday, the children sewed a pocket like the one that Corduroy receives and gave him pockets and buttons on Wednesday. And you guessed correctly if you said our Circle Time visitor this week was non other than Corduroy.

Do you know the Corduroy stories? In the first Corduroy book, he gets into some mischief while searching for a button. In the second book, he gets into mischief again as he searches for a pocket. The children enjoyed making a pocket with their name in it just like the one Corduroy gets, and loved covering him with buttons and pockets on another day. Some of the play choices this week were:

The children made beautiful painted rainbows by looking at a sample and working individually with a teacher. Without any distractions, it was amazing to see how they were able to produce their own with only verbal directions along with the sample.
