Happy Mother’s Day

I hope all of you enjoy Mother’s Day with the children. Some children have chosen to have their mom’s open their gift as soon as it came home and some are waiting till Sunday. Therefore, I am not sharing any pictures of the gift so it will be a surprise for those who are waiting. On behalf of all of the Teaching Assistants in our classroom, I want to thank the parents in the entire school for all of the wonderful treats and flowers that have been brought in during Teacher Appreciation Week. And the box of ‘hand’ flowers are being enjoyed by the teachers and the children in the classroom.

The children had quite a variety of snack food this week. Our class typically eats more of the weekly fresh fruit/vegetable than the other classes. Because of that, often there are leftovers the following week of the fruit/vegetable of the previous week. I usually serve them again. This week in order, our class had cherry tomatoes (from last week), sweet potato chips, mango (it was a big hit), leftover cookies from the Silent Auction pizza party (which I had made), and the leftover pizza from the pizza party.

On Thursday, three Lexington Police officers visited MWS in two police cruisers. Mrs. Rappaport’s children and our children went outside together to see them. All of the children had a chance to sit inside the cruisers followed by questions and answers with the officers. We learned that the Police Officers work very hard to keep all the children and their families safe in our town. They drive all around making sure that the houses and neighborhoods are safe and stop cars that are going too fast so they will slow down. Inadvertently one of the cruiser’s sirens sounded twice while we were outside. It was very loud, but your children handled it well while waiting for the sirens to stop. Here is Officer Chaisson (a parent of two MWS alumni) with his cruiser.
