Process Art

What is Process Art? At its core, process art is the idea that the journey of creation is more important than the final product you create.  It’s all about experimentation and play (definition taken from artfulparent.com).  This week your children made a project each day for the joy of the process - Monday: collage with fancy paper strips, Tuesday: paint with notched scrapers, Wednesday: paint with soda bottle bottoms, Thursday: paint with watercolors and cover with plastic wrap. Some of these have gone home and some are at school and will be used to complete another project. These kinds of projects allows the children to experiment, use a variety of materials, and mix colors. There’s no right or wrong way……just have fun.

Some of the items available for play this week were:

In Music Class with Mrs. Wada, we are listening to and learning little dance sequences to the music from “The Nutcracker” ballet. Lovely pictures of the ballet are in the music room for all to enjoy. Some the pictures are taken from the book “Becoming a Ballerina” which is about Mrs. Wada’s daughter when she was the Boston Ballet’s Clara, along with Mrs. Wada’s other two daughters.
