Turkey, Anyone?

Our class has been getting ready for Thanksgiving with books, poems, songs, projects, and friends. And what better friends are there than turkeys? We have three special turkeys, appropriately named Turkey #1, Turkey #2, and Turkey #3. The children know which is which and everyone and many teachers took a test to see if they remember. I explained to the children that everyone would take a test, just like their big sisters or brothers do when they are at the big children’s school. I used my helping hand to point to the turkeys, always mixing it up, and they had to tell that turkey’s name. Everyone passed the test. The children paid close attention when the adults, including Mrs. Reiss, Mrs. Gillis, and Mrs. McGeachie, took the test. We had to give a ‘round of applause’ many, many times. Also pictured are some of the many Thanksgiving activities that the children will see leading up to the holiday.

The children enjoy looking at our bulletin boards and seeing their projects. They have given our classroom a Fall look.

During Music Class, Mrs. Wada introduces musical instruments to the children, giving them the opportunity to feel them, make music, and experience the beginning of keeping a rhythm. For the past few weeks, we’ve been using rhythm sticks seen here surrounding the turkeys sitting on a pumpkin. This week in the Big Room, the children have been driving cars - they will have so much practice that they can skip Driver’s Ed when they turn 16.
