At the Farm

We had a busy week at the farm. The children continue to practice their scissoring skills making a cow and a pig. On Tuesday, the sheep were made by painting one side of the paper with white paint, folding it in half, and rubbing the folded paper. It is very interesting to watch the children do this because their developmental age usually predicts their method. The older the child, the more they can rub their flattened hands all over the paper. The younger the child, the hands rub in a small area. It may look like a simple project, but the goal is to help them keep the hands flat while rubbing the entire paper, even crossing the midline. Sometimes it is hard to know the skills the children are working on for the different projects. On Friday, we had special hens because they could lay eggs that spell out the children’s names..

There is no shortage at MWS of farm puzzles and farm books. In fact, we used more than could fit on the table for the pictures.

The farm song that we sang every day with our Circle Time visitors went home earlier in the week in the orange folders. Some children were humming the tune so I didn’t want to wait until this update for you to get the words. A lot of farm yard animals visited us as we sang for them. I hope you enjoy singing it at home.
