Crossing the Midline

It may look like we are just having fun dancing in our Creative Movement class (and we are), but we are also developing an important skill: crossing the midline. Crossing the midline is when we use our arms or legs to cross an imaginary line down the middle of our bodies to reach for something on the opposite side. It promotes communication between both sides of the brain and encourages bi-lateral coordination. Crossing the midline is necessary for performing daily activities like putting on shoes and for learning how to read and write.

Doing this…

…so we can do this.
