Welcome To A New Year
Welcome Parents,
Your children are amazing! We cannot wait to spend the upcoming school year with them. We have many fun activities planned.
Here are a few things we have done during the past two weeks at school.
We recited a poem containing our names; when our names were said, we stood up.
We met our classroom owl. His name is Wings.
We learned about the 5 things that we need to do in order to be a good listener.
We introduced our “Good Morning Song”.
We explained our classroom jobs and have been doing them each day with enthusiasm.
We discussed what it means to be a good friend and talked about some situations when a good friend is needed.
We read the book, “Pete The Cat I Love My White Shoes” and sang the song. We talked about what color our sneakers or shoes were. Ask your child how Pete’s shoes became red, blue, brown and then white again?
We have enjoyed eating snack together and have learned the snack song.
We have also enjoyed lunch time together. The talk right now seems to be about what everyone has for lunch and about what kind of lunch boxes they have. This time of day becomes very social as the year progresses.
Wings is so much more talkative now that he is getting to know the children better. He was a bit nervous the first few days of school! Ask your children what Wings likes to eat during this night time meals?
We made some owl friends for Wings and put them on our classroom bulletin board.
Cooking food, reading books, hammering nails, using Alphabots and making basketball shots are all part of our school day!
We went outside a second time each day after lunch to play on the patio. We are taking advantage of the beautiful weather that we have been having.
Your children seem so happy to be in a school setting and to be spending time with one another. They seem to get excited about each part of our school morning. Their enthusiasm is contagious!
Thank you for letting us spend time with them each day.
