So Long, Summer / Imaginary Play

Week of September 18

Parents I want to thank you for your patience as I am getting familiar with the website.

As summer came to a close last month, we had sand, trucks and princesses in our sensory table. We played with a doll house on the rug and hoppity hops in the big room. On the first day of autumn, we said goodbye to summer and hello to fall. We read a calendar book and a book about summer and fall, and we talked about the four seasons. We also painted with Ocean stamps.

On Thursday we celebrated Joann’s 4th birthday with imagination play. We read Magical Unicorn Dreams. We drew our dreams with crayon and painted over them with watercolor. We played pin the horn on the monster using our masks as blindfolds. We ate birthday bunnies for snack while learning how to write numbers. We bounded on hoppity hops and played on sit and spins. On the playground we played “purple aliens.”

The children brought home our “So Long, Summer” poem and some songs we have been learning at school. They also brought home two unicorn cutting activities for fun, because Joann loves unicorns and pretend play!
