F is for Fish

Hello Red Class Families,

Last week, our letter of the week was F. Over the week, we had a chance to practice writing the letter. We thought of some words that begin with the letter F. We practiced making the F sound. We looked at books and began to identify the letter F.

We had a special visitor to our Circle Time: a puffer fish! We had a chance to feel it and we noticed how poky it was. We had a conversation about its spikes in the ocean. We also made a fish art project, that you will see at a later date.

This was our second week of music with Mrs. Wada. We learned two musical concepts: forte and piano. Mrs. Wada told us that forte is not yelling, rather being beautifully loud. Piano is is the opposite of forte and it means to be soft.

We had a chance to practice our forte voices when we sang our Circle Time good morning song. We also had a chance to practice our piano voices when we read quietly on the rug.

Another thing we did this week was cooking. With the help of Mrs. Dotivala, we made our own apple muffins. The children had a chance to measure and mix their own snack. It was very good!

One new social-emotional concept we introduced was a visual schedule. During Circle Time, we have an opportunity to discuss it and preview the day.

Until next time…

Mrs. Chen
