Transportation

This week was all about transportation. The kids made two projects based on this theme; a  stop light and a school bus. We practiced our poem about what the various colors mean on a stop light and in the big room played red light-green light.

Our school bus project was based off of Mo William’s book Don’t let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! All the kids enjoyed listening to the story during circle time. I thought it would be silly to have pictures of the kids in the bus with pigeon driving! I was told by several that Pigeon wasn’t allowed to drive the bus. Oops

The kids got in a lot of sensory play this week; I brought in a big plastic bin and put up some tubing that they could drop popcorn kernels into and load them into trucks. On Thursday,  the kids played with ‘kinex sand’ made from cornmeal. The kids used small sand toys and molds to make shapes in the ‘sand.’

The big room was a lot of fun this week, the highlight being the bikes. I was surprised to see how many of them knew how to bike!

Music with Ms. Wada featured two songs; Irish Washwomen jig and The pigeon on the Gate. There was a lot of jumping and moving; the kids did their best to follow along. The drums were back, everyone had individual drums and each had a turn to hit the really big drum.

We read several books this week, a couple based on  songs like Wheels on the bus and The Wheels on the truck.

Lastly, I apologize for the late posting. It was my son's birthday this weekend and I had a house full of screaming pre teens on top of daylight savings….. I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend
