Valentine’s

This week we talked about valentines! The kids did several projects centered on Valentine’s day. First we needed to make Valentine's day bags! The kids had fun using their hands to peel and stick foam shapes on their bags and stamps. Tuesday, we worked on cutting out a heart and making it into a love fish. The kids got to explore using celery as a way to stamp fins on their fish. Thursday we were busy making super special valentines for our families, I hope you’re surprised on Monday!

This week I brought in oobleck. Oobleck is a starch and water mixture, when the two are combined it creates an interesting goo that is a lot of fun to play with in the classroom. The goo acts like a liquid on a flat surface and will drip if picked up; it ‘melts.’ When force is applied, it can form into a solid shape that will hold its form until it melts back again. The kids got to explore the oobleck using various play doh tools, legos, and driving cars through. The kids had a lot of fun making tracks and watching them disappear.

We learned the song skidamarink a dink, teaching them hand movements that accompanied the song. I sent the  lyrics home on Thursday for you to enjoy and practice together. In music class with Mrs. Wada we continued to work on to fundamentals of how to move your body in hopscotch(one foot, two foot alteration) with music.

The poem this week was Hearts and each child got a chance to read a line out loud when it was their turn.

We read several books and in between singing and moving.

Next week is penguin week!

Here are some photos from this week and last

Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs. Rappaport
