Biscuit - Before and After

Has your child told you about our very special friend who comes to Meeting Time almost every day? The stories about Biscuit are favorites with the children. Because I love to use props with the children, I searched in my collection at school to find a Biscuit-like dog when I introduced Biscuit in October. At first, Biscuit only came to Meeting Time when I was reading a Biscuit story. However, over time, he has become a staple looking out at all the children every day. There was one problem, but I was the only one with the problem……I didn’t think our class Biscuit looked much like Biscuit on the book. But the coloring was similar, and when I told the children that it is Biscuit, they accepted him as the real deal.

This week I found my dog that looks much more like Biscuit. But I couldn’t just swap him out for the Biscuit the children have all come to love. Suddenly, the solution came to me. After school, I took Biscuit to the dog groomer where he had a bath and a haircut. His hair was so long it was covering his eyes and now he has short hair! When the ‘new’ Biscuit came to our Meeting, he was all clean and with his new haircut. The children all agree that now he looks a lot like the one on the book cover. Ask your child about Biscuit and see what story he/she tells you. Don’t you love preschoolers? Their imaginations allow them to enjoy the wonders in life, even if some of these wonders were concocted by their teacher.
