Pumpkin and Leaf Fun!

Our first couple of weeks in the Green Class are off to a great start! I have had a wonderful time getting to know the children and we have all been settling in nicely to our new classroom.

We started off with some pumpkin fun the week of Halloween. We painted pumpkins. We worked on our fine motor skills by hammering and pushing golf tees into a pumpkin. Then we carved the pumpkin. The children helped scoop the insides out of the pumpkin and chose what shapes they wanted me to carve for the face. The children named our pumpkin “Jacky.” We also had a mini pumpkin with a face drawn on it who visited during circle time and his name is “Jack.”

The following week, we had some fun with leaves. We created different art using both fake and real leaves. We also searched for acorns in the sensory table filled with leaves and pinecones. The children enjoyed observing the natural materials through magnifying glasses.

We celebrated one November birthday by cooking mini vanilla cupcakes with yellow frosting. The children enjoyed pouring the ingredients in the bowl and taking turns stirring.
