2022 Has Arrived

It was nice to be together again in the Orange classroom after the holiday break, though we missed many friends who have not yet returned. A friendly horse visited Circle Time every day and we sang our Hello song to him in the appropriate language. We started the week talking about emotions. Your child brought home a picture made with stampers and a coloring page of emotions. It was fun to look at all the vegetables and fruit during Circle Time and decide how they were feeling.

There are many, many items hidden away at MWS which are great tools for painting. The children enjoyed making pictures (they are on our bulletin board) by painting a sheet of bubble wrap, laying a piece of paper over it and rubbing it to make the paint transfer onto the paper. Often the children prefer to keep their hands clean and popping the painty bubble wrap wouldn’t be appealing. But after one child decided it looked like fun, all of the other children wanted to pop the dirty bubble wrap. It was a lot of fun and later in the day everyone got a piece of the leftover clean bubble wrap to pop.

On Thursday the children made pictures by painting with gears, another great painting tool. Another fun activity this week was had by using a ‘grabber’ to carry Beanie Babies down the hall and place them in a container. The grabber requires the children to use their hand strength to keep it closed and eye-hand coordination to pick up the animal. The children enjoyed it, the teachers had a turn, and even the office staff (Mrs. Gillis and Mrs Reiss) came to have a try.

We ended the week with a snow day, most likely the first of others.
