In the Groove

The common version of the the expression "get into a groove," means to get used to a routine or to get settled into a comfortable pace doing something. Your children have definitely “gotten into a groove” during these first weeks of school. Even the surprise of having to don masks this week did not dampen the fun the children are having.

The sensory table was filled with sand, shells, scoops, small containers and sea animals this week. Everyone enjoys the sensory table with some children spending lots of time sorting the materials. It complimented the pictures they made using the sea life stamps and the beaches. Our Monthly Poem, “Sand on the….” went home early in the week for you to enjoy reading with your children. Each month, a copy of the Monthly Poem will go home for you to read. Other toys that were enjoyed by all included:

Each week Mrs. Reiss purchases a fresh fruit or vegetable for snack. This week it was carrots. I expected to have leftovers from this bowl but every last carrot was eaten by your children. What healthy eaters we have!

The children's Doily Paintings are on our bulletin Board. They used watercolors to paint over doilies and then “Voila!”, the shape is left on the paper.

Last week our visitor to Circle Time was Biscuit. This week, Biscuit’s best friend came to join us. Her name is Mittens and your child should be able to tell you how to sing our Hello Song to her. In fact, both Biscuit and Mittens came to Circle Time every day because they like to hear books read about them.

We have had our Movement Class three times since beginning school. The children have become familiar with the songs and movements we’ve learned thus far. If you have a music streaming service (I use Apple Music), your child may enjoy hearing these familiar songs:

Warm Up Time (Tumble Tots), Morning Stretch (Dr Jean Feldman), I Wake Up My Hands (Rainbow Songs), Head, Shoulders (Mr. Jon & Friends), Open Shut Them (Super Simple Songs), Sit Down, Stand Up (Sharon Novak), It’s Such a Good Feeling (Daniel Tiger).
