Pete the Cat Week

Pete the Cat week is always a favorite with the children. Though most of them are familiar with Pete, they never seem to tire of the books. The author does a great job narrating them, making it easy to follow along and sing the refrain. Each day, a different Pete project has been made, filling our bulletin board. As Spring arrives, it is time to incorporate more scissors cutting and the Pete projects gave us the opportunity for that.

You are probably able to figure out that our special visitor to Circle Time was Pete. However, the real Pete the Cat also visited us. The children loved singing the song from “Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons” as each button fell off. But Mrs. Reiss couldn’t fool one of our students, who said “That’s just a teacher, you know”. Can you tell the difference?

Everyday after snack, the children clean up, wash their hands, and sit in and around the rug for quiet reading as the others finish snack and the teachers clean up. There are so many Pete the Cat books in our book bucket that everyone keeps busy reading.

On Thursday, we read Pete the Cat, The Wheels on the Bus. None of the children wanted to get on Pete’s bus but the teachers were happy to be on the bus!
