Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite days to celebrate in preschool.  I asked the children what Valentine’s Day means to them, and they came up with many answers: making cards for people you love; baking cookies for friends; eating chocolate.  One child said, “Valentine’s Day is about being kind.”  I couldn’t agree more.  I like to use this holiday as an opportunity to talk about kindness and what it means to be kind.  It was such a happy week in the Red Class with the spirit of love and friendship in the air!

The children got a lot of writing practice making valentines for their friends and family.

We made shortbread heart cookies for our special treat.

Our heart tree with the children’s bags ready to receive handmade valentines…
