Fall Fun

The past week truly felt like fall. The air is crisp and the leaves are changing colors. As we walk to the playground, the children enjoy looking at a particular tree and pointing out how its leaves are now red. They are also noticing an abundance of acorns on the playground. We often try to read books that reflect what is happening outside. Two books that we read this week that illustrated some of these concepts are I Want That Nut! and Ten Little Squirrels.

This month we started our Music class with Mrs. Wada. Last week was our second class. Each week the children listen to a piece of classical music; sing traditional children’s songs; play an instrument; and dance or do creative movement.  This week Mrs. Wada played Vivaldi’s Autumn for us and we used the egg shakers. Your children are all such eager participants, and they have great rhythm!

This was our first week of cooking.  We will try to cook each Wednesday. This week we made a delicious (and easy) apple crisp.  The children were enthusiastic helpers.  They scooped, measured, poured and stirred.  They even cut the apples with a child-safe knife.  I think they surprised themselves by how much they were able to do.  The recipe was such a success that they asked us to send it home. We are looking forward to more cooking projects.

Your children continue to delight us with their enthusiasm and flexibility.  They seem to love just about any toy or game that we put out for the day.  They have vivid imaginations and love to build and draw.  There is nothing that they won’t try! We are looking forward to many more fun fall days!
