Apples on Top

In circle time we…

  • Sang Old McDonald with prop “barn”(Kleenex box). Each friend took a turn drawing a animal from the “barn,” naming the animal, and making corresponding noise

  • Used clues to identify who we would sing good morning to in opening circle

  • Charted our results from apple tasting

In Art We Made:

10 Apples on Top

Based off of Doctor Seuss’s Ten Apples Up On Top; kids glued down foam bodies with their picture. Next they were given 10 circles numbered 1 through 10. The kids practiced identifying the numbers and then gluing them in sequential order.

Apple Tree:

Children used dot sponges and green paint. They were asked to put leaves on their tree using the dot sponge. After their tree had leaves, they added red buttons or beads to create an apple tree. Everyone’s came out different which is always fun to see

In free art stations, the kids experimented printing with an apple . They also made trees with leftover play-doh, beads, and stir sticks. Beading is great for their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

Sensory Fun

And Other Fun Happenings

The slide was out this week in the big room. It was a new and fun experience for a lot of friends, but everyone was game to try.

On Monday we made a special snack! After tasting all three different types of apples, we sprinkled the leftovers with cinnamon and sugar to make a yummy treat. Once they tasted apples, the kids used a rolling pin to crush up graham crackers, sprinkled them over the cinnamon sugar apples, and added a dollop of vanilla yogurt. It tasted like apple crumble! Yum.

We started music class with Mrs. Wada.
