Present Making
In circle time we…
Learned a new song; “The lights on the tree.” Once we learned the song we practiced mixing up the verses and used a felt board to predict what was next
Practiced name recognition
Read lots of books
Played “What’s different;” Mrs. Rappaport would change something about their clothing and the kids had to guess what i.e rolling up one sleeve
Used our pre-reading skills to describe what the was happening in a book based on pictures
What we read this week

Art Projects
This week the kids started to work on their gifts to you, I don’t want to spoil the surprise, so I will just share a couple things we worked on this past week.
Painting with Bows
Why not? The kids got to paint with bows and gold paint at the easel. Tis the season
Shaving Cream Painting
Fun and messy! We put shaving cream in a tray, squeezed out drops of paint into the shaving cream, and used a chopstick to swirl the paint. Once there was a good swirl of colors, we pressed paper plates into the shaving cream, pulled them up, and squeegeed off the excess shaving cream. The result is an amazing marbleized effect.
We will be adding popsicle sticks, names, and turning them into giant lollipops next week to decorate a class gingerbread house.
Spin Art Peppermint Candy
I’m sorry I don’t have a picture of the kids making this, because it was a lot of fun. The kids created peppermint candies by using a salad spinner, paper plates, and some red paint. To create their “candy,” the kids took turns putting the paper plates into the salad spinner, adding a few drops of red paint, and spun. They will also go on the gingerbread house.

MUSIC CLASS
This month Mrs. Wada is teaching us routines from the Nutcracker in music. It is an exciting time and a special treat, because her daughters danced in The Nutcracker for the Boston Ballet.
