Learning the Routine

Here is our weekly recap

  In Circle time we…..

  • Talked about the different ways we can stay safe at school. Here are a few examples we use every day:

    • Washing hands

    • Using a helping hand to walk up and down stairs

    • Listening to our teachers

    • Using the crosswalk in the parking lot

    • Having slow feet in the big room and hallways

Once we listed ways to stay safe at school, we talked about the monthly fire drills at MWS and how they help us stay safe at school too(See more below in our what we read this week section).

  • Started jobs!

    • This week we had two jobs; Line leader and Plant helper.

    • ‘Should I get upset if I don't have a job at school today?’ Goodness no! Everyone gets a turn!

  • What does it look like to be a good listener?

    • Looking eyes, listening ears, quiet body, and mouth.

    • How do we get ready to listen? Ms. Rappaport demonstrated popping in her looking eyes, cranking in her listening ears, and catching a bubble in her mouth or zipping lips

  • Practiced reading our weekly poem; Goodbye Summer!

What books did we read this week?

  • The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn

  • Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin

  • MWS Fire Drill Social Story

    • I like to preview our drills using a social story; I will read it to the class several times throughout the year. Our social story explains what to expect during a fire drill at MWS; how sounds, what it looks like, and what to do.

    • Fire drills are conducted monthly and at random. Please feel free to review with your child
