Welcome to School

Hello Green class family and friends,

I forget every year just how little our friends are until they march through the door on their first day with their big backpack on! But something magical happens between drop-off and pick-up, and by the end of the day they aren’t so little anymore! They are “Big Kids” with big smiles because now they go to school. Congratulations to you and your child! You both did it!

Preschool is all about building self-confidence and gaining independence. Throughout the year we will continue to build that on that self-confidence and acquire foundational skills through play.

We will learn how to be a friend, learn how to wait and take turns, how to be a good listener, how to work as a group, and many more things!

We briefly dipped our toes in on Thursday, but here are some conversation starters to ask your child about their first day:

  1. What color is our classroom door? Green What color is my nametag? Green

  2. What teachers did I meet on Thursday? Ms. Rappaport, Mrs. Kind, and Mrs. Stoler. We had guest appearance from our music teacher Mrs. Wada too!

  3. Did you play in the big room? Yes! What was your favorite thing to play with in the big room? Blocks, basketball, climbing cubes, and rocking boats

  4. What did you have for snack? Crackers

  5. How did circle time begin? We sang hello to everyone. We will sing this song every day to say hello. “Hello ___ hello___ Hello___ I’m glad you came to school!”

What book did Ms. Rappaport read? Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes

Next week will be our first whole week at school! I will start sending home our weekly poem, art, and other information; please make sure to check the green take-home folders daily. They fill up fast!

We will also start music class on Tuesday with Mrs. Wada!

And, we get to celebrate our first school birthday on Monday! Happy Birthday Maika!

So get some sleep and be ready to play!

See you at school,

Ms. Rappaport
