Apple Season

A few days ago your children brought home a paper with pictures of their classmates and teachers. Many children enjoy looking at this at home and talking about the people they see at MWS. If your child’s copy becomes well worn or lost, do not hesitate to let me know and I’ll send home a new copy.

Our class has been fortunate to have Ms. Alcaraz in our room as a student teacher. She is a natural born teacher and had the opportunity to plan this week’s lessons. She selected the projects, stories, songs, activities, and toys that the children experienced all week. The children were surprised on Monday when Ms. Alcaraz led Circle Time and were captivated by her enthusiasm and creativity as she took on that role. She will be with us through December and there will be lucky children in her future when she graduates college and becomes a certified preschool teacher.

Note who is sitting at Ms. Alcaraz’s feet. A larger picture will be at the end of this update.

Most, but not all, of this week’s activities had an apple connection.

‘Apples’ and trees in the sensory table.

Apples, baskets, and ‘bug’ catchers in the sensory table.

A peg board with 4 colors of pegs was one of the table activities. One day I sat next to a child who put only 2 colors (blue and green) of pegs on the board. He was copying the shirt I was wearing. Two days later he came across the room to show me his creation. This time he used green and red. It always amazes me to see the children and their creativity with the available items.

Our visitor at Circle Time. Do you know how to sing the Hello song to our cow?
