Countdown

When I think back to the Fall, the next to the last week of school was an eternity away,. but, alas, that time has come. And when I assembled the children’s Memory Books, I was amazed at how much they have grown since the beginning of the year.

This week the children enjoyed the table activities, some of which are below.

Each week, I make a playlist using the list of songs that the children have learned for our Movement Class. The children like to hear what number playlist we are going to use. Today we used Playlist 26. Mrs. Gillis had never come to Movement Class before and today she had a treat. By now, the children know all the songs and the words. Mrs. Gillis had a workout and got to hear the children belting out the songs.

This rolling crate has turned out to be one of my best purchases this spring. When I realized that we needed to have the children’s water bottles on the playground, one of the teachers was carrying a bag with 14 bottles. It was much to heavy. Now all the bottles go into this crate and it is easily wheeled in and out of the building. You never know when you make a purchase if it will be ‘life altering’. This crate is one of those things!

This book, Little White Duck was a favorite this week. This is actually an old song that has been illustrated in book form. The children looked at the pictures while they heard the song using portable speaker.

This YouTube version is not the same singer we listened to, but this is the only one I could find with the same book. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNAIhrIEI4U

The singer on the original recording when the song was written was Burl Ives. You may be too young to have hear of him, but when I was a child I loved to see him entertaining on TV. We listened to the Burl Ives version, so your children will recognize this recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y57RWhz76y8
