Dots Everywhere
Before I write about this week in school, I’ll tell my news. I expected to have a root canal this afternoon (Friday), but the appointment was changed to yesterday morning. I went to MWS at 7:30am as usual, and set up the classroom. At 8:30 I was in the endodontist’s chair, and back to MWS at 10:00. The procedure was pain free, and I am very happy to have my 10-day toothache gone.
A new class list and photos went home this week because we welcomed a new child to our class. It is wonderful to see your children welcome a newcomer and make her feel a part of the group so quickly.
With children unable to come to school because of illness or vacation, the smaller population made for a quiet week. The children’s snowmen made on Monday are decorating our classroom. We made a number of dots/circles art projects using a variety of materials, such as recycled circle shapes, dot sponge daubers, bingo markers, and a coloring page. After reading the book “Lots of Dots”, we looked all around the classroom for objets made of circles/dots.
Our special friend visiting Circle Time this week was a lion. Ask your child to sing the Hello song for you the way that we sang it to the Lion.
The children learned our March poem about shamrocks. I have heard from some of the children who took it home on Thursday that they read it at home with a parent. Keep reading the poems with your children. They love to show me that they can read it all by themselves.
