Halloween Fun
It appears that my camera card (yes, I use a camera at school, not my iPhone) has been damaged and my card reader will no longer read it when I insert it into my computer. I will get a new card and hopefully, that will solve the problem. This also means that I cannot share any pictures from the classroom this week. Instead I am posting some pictures from last year with some of the items we used this year. Halloween activities were interspersed with our typical toys and activities. Halloween tends to be a favorite amongst the children, but too much of it can have a negative impact in the classroom. Puzzles, matching, tweezers, pouring, sorting, etc, all include skill building while having fun.
Be sure to ask your children to tell you the names of our Circle Time visitors.
We missed many of our classmates this week because of illness. We hope that the fevers, sniffles, and coughs soon go away and we have all our little friends back in the classroom. I have mentioned that we have Music Class with Mrs. Wada every Tuesday, and a Movement Class each week (day varies). When these classes began, it was a bit chaotic as the children were hearing the music and trying to follow the instructions for the movements. But now that they have been exposed to these activities multiple times, I can see that they anticipate what the actions will be when they hear the first few bars of the music. Mrs. Wada incorporates contemporary tunes along with classical music. We have been using the pumpkin faces pictured above while listening to In the Hall of the Mountain King from Peer Gynt, written by Edvard Grieg. Each week in Movement class, we listen to a playlist of action songs. As the music starts for the songs the children already know, they are remembering the actions. Each week, 1 or 2 new songs are introduced. What started out as chaos in September has turned into a wonderful, fun time.
