A Wonderful Week
We had so much fun at school last week. The children are developing some very special friendships. It is always so satisfying to overhear them speaking with one another. Navigating friendships is so important at this age.
The children are very capable builders in the Big Room. The large, plastic, waffle blocks are a favorite.
We have noticed that no matter what we put on the tables each morning, the children always seem to be interested in trying it. This enthusiasm is infectious!
This past week, we worked hard on learning the letters in our first names. We examined and then charted how many letters we each have in our names. The children took envelopes home that were filled with those letters. Have they practiced putting those letters in the right order for you?
We also read the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and played with our own letter tree. Many of the children put their names on the branches of that tree.
Lastly, we wrote our names in colorful, Bingo Markers.
Our classroom tree is now filled with owls that we painted, cut and assembled together. The children were so excited to see their finished owls. Wings, our classroom owl, has many friends to play with now during the long nights. Ask your children if they remember the name that they gave their owl?
We celebrated the first birthday of the year in our classroom. Happy birthday to James!

We stayed outside for an extra amount of time this past week on both the playground and patio. Thank you for bringing in sweatshirts for those days when in was cooler. It is better to have the sweatshirts and not use them than to not have them at all.
Happy Fall!
