January…Brrr
For many days this month it was too cold to play outside, but we managed to have a wonderful time inside playing and exploring winter themes.
We painted with winter colors, painted penguins, and made snowmen on black paper with cray-pas.
Because we could not go outside, we had extra time to enjoy free play inside. The children built some pretty amazing structures with these connector rods. The best part of this was listening to their conversations while they built. Each structure required planning, collaboration, cooperation and imagination!
One day we had “snowmen” for snack. We made them with mini bagels, cream cheese, pretzel sticks, carrot noses, and chocolate chips. They were a hit!
It finally warmed up enough for us to go outside and enjoy the snow. Here the children are making snowmen and snow angels.
Groundhog Day!
On Thursday, we discussed Groundhog Day and had the children predict whether or not the groundhog would see its shadow. We had the children fill out a form with their prediction and sent it home. Be sure to check on February 2 for the results!
It was a busy and fun month. Thank you for sending in your child’s snow clothes each day. They are getting very adept at putting on their clothes and taking them off - even though we have only practiced a handful of times!
